How do I support students with visual or hearing disabilities?
We can support students with disabilities in several ways:
-
Color Blindness
is best supported by avoiding color gradients and specific colors. There are several evaluations that can be performed to ensure that a course will be visible to color-blind students.
-
Visual Disabilities
can be addressed in several ways:
- Screen Readers, which read accessible HTML courses aloud.
- Flash courses which are equipped with audio narration which can be enabled or disabled.
- Flash 8 courses which support screen readers. For more information, visit Adobe's Flash 8 Accessibility FAQ.
-
Aural Disabilities
are addressed by avoiding the use of audio narration, or closed captioning when audio is a required component of the course.
